Our Beginnings

Around the year 2007 a formative effort began the movement towards founding a private school in St. Catharines that would meet the needs of Catholic families in the Niagara Region. It was spawned from the desire of eight to ten families who were longing for a solid Catholic curriculum and academic rigour, as well as an environment that was safe and faith community orientated. These families were seeking beauty in the curriculum; a social venue that would support their Catholic family values; and education that would develop critical thinking skills and other 21st Century skills that the world requires today for success.

In September of 2011, Seraphim Academy became the “vision realized in its nascence” by opening its doors to its first year of operation as a private independent school in the heart of Niagara under the primary founder, Mrs. Therese Aycho, and supporting founder, Mr. Nial Murray. It began by offering Kindergarten through Grade seven.

For all of the support and assistance of the founding families and faithful who made the launching of this vision of Catholic education possible, we offer our heartfelt gratitude. However, we especially thank Our Heavenly Father and Blessed Mother for gathering together and blessing our founding group with so many graces. We continue to ask and entrust ourselves to their ongoing intercession.
